Pink Saturday

Hello Pink Ladies!

I love this postcard!
The hand lettering done by Charlie 103
years ago.  I think he was a talented guy,
as well as being very thoughtful.

This is another postcard from my collection.
It is from 1912 and is to Clara from her sister Hattie.
Hattie wasn't going to be up for awhile and didn't want
Clara to worry.
Aren't these treasures sweet?
I call them enduring endearments.

Please visit Beverly and all the other
great Pink Saturday posts!

Halloween Tag Tutorial

Hello friends!

As we approach this Halloween weekend, I thought I would share this easy Halloween tag tutorial.

I started by embossing my manila tag with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.
I then picked out 3 shades of Distress Inks to color my tag with.

I started with Wild Honey and used the foam blending tool to color my tag.
When doing this, you want to use small circular motions to evenly spread the ink.

I then took Spiced Marmalade and inked around the outer edge of the tag.

Lastly, I took Rusty Hinge and darkened the edges and lightly rubbed it across the embossed parts of the tag.

I then stamped my image on to white cardstock and cut it out.
Because I was using a new stamp I had to use the eraser trick.
Have you tried it?
When acrylic stamps are new, they are super sticky, so to help remove it, you rub an eraser over it before using the stamp. It's a great way to condition the stamp.

I still had a little patch on her dress that didn't stamp completely, so instead of stamping it again, I took a q-tip and rubbed it in the ink and created a pattern on the dress to cover up my patchy spot.

I then used a Copic marker to add a little color to her skin and hat.

The stamp set I am using is by Close To My Heart. I don't by their products much but I really loved this cute Halloween set.
I cut out a label on my Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and stamped it to finish it for my tag.

I was then ready to start assembling my tag.
I add a little stamped detail to the tag first and then glued the label to the bottom of the tag. I added the witch and her cat, making sure to tuck her legs underneath the label. I then used a black gel pen to add stitch lines around the edges of the tag.
A glittery bat sticker up in the corner adds a little whimsy to the tag.

I wanted the tag to have a more grungy look, so I took Pewter Liquid Pearls and added a few drops around my tag. It's a dimensional paint and gives you a similar look to bling.

To add a little more sparkle, I added orange glitter, using a Martha Stewart Glitter Glue Pen across the embossed parts of the tag.

All that's left is to add some ribbon!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Have a wonderful Friday, Lindsey

New Favorite Things

Hello friends!
I love craft supplies!
I love paper and glue and it's so much fun to be inspired by the patterns and styles.
I wanted to show you some of my new favorite crafty supplies right now.
First, is the Sidewalks paper line by October Afternoon. It's a bright and colorful line with lovely vintage patterns.
I've been working on a mini album this week using it!

I also love the new Lost and Found Two paper lines by My Minds Eye.
There are 4 separete lines in this lovely collection.

Gotta love a paper line that is about crafting!
This line by Jillibean Soup had brighter colors than I usually create with but I loved this journal page with sweet crafty quotes.

These wooden buttons from Michaels dollar section was a great fun find!
They have a variety of colors and they are so cute!

I also spotted these spool buttons on a recent scrapbook shopping trip.
They are by Pink Paislee.

They're very cute,
but they only have one hole instead of two like traditional buttons.

I then spotted these vintage spool buttons by Prima.
They are so pretty!

They're also very popular right now and seem to be selling out rather quickly.
I managed to find them on ebay.
Wishing you a day of fun, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello beautiful ladies!

I have a new toy!
I recently went to a craft festival where I saw it demonstrated.
I was intrigued enough to give it a try.
It was very easy to get the hang of.

I don't know what the name of the loom is.  I would love to
know if any of you have tried this kind of loom before
and what you may have made with it.

This is a scarf I made for Lindsey. She loved all the bright colors.

It has a very different weave.  Light and airy as well
as thick and warm.
I am hooked!

My other passion is creating art with paint and scrapbook paper.
I made this one for my son's birthday.  I wanted to do a circus
themed picture in non traditional colors.
He loved it!

Thank you so much for visiting with me today.
I love sharing with you all that I am creating.
I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful fall.
We are having warm, sunny days that I wish could
last a long time!
Enjoy your day and do something you love!

Autumn Day Card

Hello friends!

I have a new card to show you today using a fun Autumn digi stamp.
The base of my card is green cardstock and card size is 6 inch.
I used leaf punches to cut my leaves out of green and brown cardstock, which I used to add more dimension to the card.

I colored in my digi stamp using Copic markers. It's amazing that you can achieve such cool blend looks from markers! It's not easy to learn and I am still practising how to not over saturate my paper but when you can achieve such pretty effects, it makes it so worth it!

The stamp I used is from The Sugar Kissed Cottage.
Have a lovely Autumn day, Lindsey

Halloween Mini Album

Hello friends!
Since Halloween is coming up soon, I thought I would share with you a new Halloween mini album I recently created.
You may remember I created a Halloween paper bag album already this season, but when I happened upon this super cute paper, I just had to make another album with this line!

The line's called Spooksville, by We R Memory Keepers.
I love the light color palette in this line, especially the soft yummy shade of blue!
It's so fun! This line also has a bit of a retro feel to it.

I pulled out my Martha Stewart Halloween punches and Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die to create a lot of fun paper embellishments!

My album is black chipboard that I cut to make a 6 x 6 inch book,
then bound using my Cinch book binder.

I also cut green cardstock leaves for my paper flowers using the Storybook cartridge on my Cricut machine.

I've listed this newest album here on ebay.

Have a lovely day, Lindsey

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello Ladies!
If you've read our blog for awhile you know our
fur babies are a big part of our lives.  You also
may know that Muffin is a very precious dog.
Unfortunately, he decided to get into dirty things in the
yard and had to come in and have a bath!
He was Not very happy and looked so cute I told
Lindsey to take a picture of him.  The only thing he hates
worse than baths is having his picture taken.  He moved as
soon as Lindsey pointed the camera.  He was definitely Mad
at having to have this bath.  His little front legs were stiff and he
wouldn't even look at me!
He forgave me and we are buds again.

I've been a travelin' girl lately!
My son and I love nothing more than exploring small
towns we've not discovered yet.
Rocheport, MO is just one such town that we found
ourselves in lately.  The picture below is of the
Missouri river.

We had the pleasure of eating in this restaurant overlooking
the river.  It was so much fun and the best burger I have ever eaten!
Rocheport is an awesome historic town where many people have
shops in their homes and you just go right in!
Do you know how much fun That is?!

This Sunday we went to Silver Dollar city for the annual
Fall Festival.  Always our favorite time of year to visit
this great family park.

Loved these happy faces on beautiful
hand made pottery pumpkins!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
You all are so dear to my heart!

Wishing you much happiness!
Love, Twyla
