Barbie Wednesday

Hello friends, today my theme for Barbie Wednesday is dolls that feature children's stories!
This first one is Little Bo Peep Barbie from 1997. I remember receiving this Barbie when I was little! I loved her!
This Barbie is titled Barbie Had A Little Lamb. She came out in 1999. I remember when she came out but I was in the "I'm to old for Barbies" phase.

This lovely doll came out in 2002 and is a 100th Anniversary of The Tale of Peter Rabbit Barbie.

This Tale of Peter Rabbit Barbie came out in 1998. I don't have her, but I think I need to add her to my collection someday!

Mattel has released several versions of Repunzel Barbie over the years. This version from 1994 is the one that I had and remember most!

I also had this version from 1997. I loved playing with her crown! I have so many fond memories from my days of playing with these dolls!

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello, lovely ladies!
I found this picture at an antique store this weekend.  I loved
how she was clutching her doll and her little wrinkled socks.
The picture just pulled at my heartstrings.  Isn't that one of the things that get us
when we are collectors, darn heartstrings!

I just finished another baby blanket that happened to be a special order for my friend
Sarita.  It is baby blue and brown.  It was so sweet of Sarita to order this from me.  She often buys Lindsey's tags, too!
I first met Sarita one day when I checked my emails and had one titled 'I love your blog!'

She introduced herself and told how she enjoyed our blog so much that she had read all the way back to the beginning!  We were so touched.  Sarita and I have continued to email one another ever since.
If you read our comments you'll see her name pop up.  She doesn't have a blog herself.  Sure wish she did!

I was overwhelmed when she sent me this shadowbox.  She lovingly put together items that had been in her own mother's sewing box.  Do you know how special that is to me?!

Each little item has a story and it means so much that Sarita shared these with me.  I will treasure it the rest of my life.
Blogging has been so wonderful because it has brought so many wonderful ladies into my life.
Thank you all for stopping by today!
Have a wonderful week!
Love, Twyla

A Compendium Of Curiosities

Hello friends!
Today I wanted to show this wonderful new book I recently purchased.

Tim Holtz is the creater of my favorite crafty supplies including Distress ink which I use all the time!
As soon as I saw this book for sale on his blog I knew I had to have it! I was beyond excited when I received my book and it was personally signed by Tim!!!

This book shows many of my favorite techniques, a few that I have used when sharing my tag tutorials.

This book shows how to create so many neat effects!

At the Scrapbook store where I work, we received our shipment of new Tim Holtz Distress ink colors today! Yippee! With colors like Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass how could I not be inspired? Look for new tag tutorials to be on the blog soon!

Free Images

You all know how we enjoy sharing our vintage images with you.
This is a sweet postcard from 1908.

This perfectly adorable image is from a vintage German children's book.
How sweet is this?!

We have a fondness for tradecards, too.  This one is a Coats and Clark
tradecard.

Unfortunately, these are rarely dated.  The back claims that it is 'the
 best six cord thread'.

Have a crafty day!

Twyla on Tuesday

Hello ladies!
You know I love sharing my collections with you.
I love old prints in antique frames.
This little girl is one of my favorites.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned my cup collection.  I like to play with them and
arrange them in different vignettes.  All these cups are from the late 1800's and early
1900's, made in Germany.  They are so beautiful and a thrill to find one.

This is a really large one!  A perfect place to gather some of my favorite vintage sewing items
and old handmade lace.

I so appreciate you coming to spend some time with me today.
It's been a long month for us.  First, my dad had surgery and a week ago my husband's
back went out.  It is keeping me preoccupied and I really miss visiting you all as much as I like.

Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon and I can spend as much time in blogland as I like.
I found this cute planter in an antique booth a couple of weeks ago.
Who could resist the sweet little doggie faces?

Wishing you all much happiness!

Vintage Finds

Hello Friends!

Today I am sharing some of my newest vintage flea market finds.
I  adore this embroidered pillow! It is so detailed and the colors are so beautiful!

This one, although stained, had a charm to it that I couldn't pass up.

All 3 of these pillows were purchased from the same booth. I love this bear's pipe and socks!

This beautiful print called my name the other day!
