Spring is almost here

It won't be long now! Although, while I say this, our area is under a winter storm warning.
I love Saturdays. Mom and I head out to our favorite shops.
One of my new loves happens to be fabric. We have a wonderful quilt shop full of reproduction prints!
I wanted to show you my picnic basket that I've been collecting my fabric in. I think it's starting to overflow!

I'm still not very good with my sewing machine yet. I realized when practicing that I don't have as good patience as I thought I did.
So I have been making a lot of yo yo's lately. Much simpler for me.

I found this awesome bag of vintage fabric circles at a flea market.

I was lucky enough to get a call this morning that I didn't have to come to work, so we decided this was a perfect opportunity to go to a flea market. It was fairly junky but there were a few treasures hidden amongst it all.
Such as this box of vintage Wizard of Oz Valentines.

13 yards of cute carousel ribbon

this pink covered bowl

Some vintage children's books

Embroidered table linen

A stack of vintage paper coasters

Cute oriental fabric napkins

I found about 40 different vintage patterns over the last couple of days at different flea markets and thrift stores. Every person I checked out with, which happened to be old ladies, asked me if I sewed. I smile and tell them I am trying!
They then proceed to tell me about how there aren't enough girls doing that these days like it was back when they were younger. If they could only see all the blogs I have they would know the love for sewing is still going strong!
Here are a few of the patterns I got.

I also collect vintage Barbies. I was thrilled to find this case this past weekend. I will have to post some pictures of my collection soon.

Unfortunately at one of our local thrift stores they mark through all of the patterns. How horrible is that? I don't know why they think they need to. I still bought my favorites hoping to be able to do something for them. Here is what it looks like.

Here are some of the crafty things I've been making lately.

I made cherry chip cupcakes with strawberry frosting. Yum!!!
